Remember my thieft

  3.0ltr V6

Do you guys remember when my V6 went in for warranty work a couple of weeks ago and upon getting my car back, someone had stolen some items from my glove box? Well, I have now been told that they will pay for half of the value as a gesture of goodwill as they cannot prove who or why my goods were taken. Im happy in a way but they are then owning up to it being them so why cant they pay me for the lot!!!!!!

Well they say that cannot prove who it was that took the stuff so therefore will only pay for half the value out of the kindness of their heart.

But they cannot say who took the goods. You see..... it was collected by a garage for transportation where they kept the vehicle over night. They then transported the car to Renault the following day. In all my car was gone for 4 days. In both cases they had the keys obviously so cannot prove who took the stuff. Could be Renault, could be the other garage. I cant prove anything. All I know is the stuff was there when I handed my car over and not there when I collected it.

Who arranged the collection? The blame falls on who took your car from you as you put the car in their trust.

I can lend you my reciept for a £250 MP3 player if you like, lol.

Just make stuff up about what was stolen if they are not going to pay for it all.

Agreed. If renault arranged the collection then they are responsible for their sub contractors too. They should be using honest reputable companies, not theiving gypsy ba$tards! If you arranged the collection with this other company then i would say its a police matter.

I really believe that Renault employees would NOT touch any personal belongings in a customers car and my bet is that it was the collection vehicle driver who stole your stuff. Renault are obvbiously not admitting liability, as nothing can be proved, they are just as you say, paying you out of the goodness of their heart!!

People shouldnt leave valuables in the car when its out of their possession anyway.

I think even if I broke down at the roadside id take 30 seconds to remove the CDs and sunglasses and put them in my handbag before my car was towed away.

Unfortunately, you cant trust anyone (this is proof of it) and leaving things in the car is just putting temptation in thieves way.

I must just be a trusting person JillyB as I would never have thought that I should remove my goods in case someone would nick stuff. Specially from a reputable garage! Everybody is admitting they have no idea what happened and its not down to them so I have no evidence. What can you do... nothing! The Police say they cannot do anything as there wasnt actually a break in. Great!

I dont have a handbag being a guy, so its harder to carry, a case full of CDs, two pairs of sunglasses, MP3 player, and anything else i have in the car at the time. There is only so much room in my jeans pockets. lol

Well my handbag Guilbert isnt that big either. Just about fits my wallet and mirror, lol. Im certainly not going to carry around a hangbag big enough to fit the contants of my car just in case I brake down again.
