remote networking question

I have no idea if the following is possible but hopefully it is...

If 2 PCs are connected to the internet can I run a cd rom on one pc from another and if so how?

Also dsoes it matter if the OS are different, XP and Vista?

Any help appreciated.

If both PC's are connected to the router - you can set up simple file sharing and rightclick the CD drive and share it.

they are 30 miles apart but both on the internet

Can do it through Hamachi i guess? take a fair while for the files to go through though.

are u wanting to run files from the cd or simply download from cd

if u are just wanting to access it u could set the drive up on a ftp, then withing windows connect to the drive as a remote location

im wanting to run the files from the cd rom remotely as i tried copying the cd rom i made and it would not run correctly

Create an ISO of the cd, download it, mount the iso on a virtual drive.
