you should have a blue cable coming out the back of your head unit which is your remote cable.... if not connect it too the swithed live cable of your head unit so the amp will only take power with the ignition on.......
cheers for the help, got it sorted now. i just ran the remote wire up the drivers side and placed a switch under the seat then ran it back down to the amp, using the live and earth terminals on the amp.
Can't you do this as well by attatching the remote to the wiring stump on the aerial, underneath the roof interior? Does this take much wiring knowhow?
I'm in the same situation, no remote out on the head unit which is some 1980's Clarion banger (I'm not sure it's from the 80's but it might as well be as far as technological advancements are concerned, it doesn't even have RCA ports; I had to buy a lineout convertor from Motor World). How the hell do I find out which is the wire that switchable live one? All I know so far is that it's red or yellow, what if I have both? Sorry to hijack this thread for my own purposes btw whoever started it.
Also can anyone recommend a goodish sub 100 quid headunit I could buy to replace the Clarion one for when I finally get some money? I don't mind buying second hand off the bay or whatever. Does my car have an ISO connector? Sorry for all the noob questions.. this is my first car and as such I don't know a great deal about cars.
no dink i was just pointing out the remote wite using a handy bit of coat hanger in my picture...
i patched into the wire using a scotch lock connecter and wired to the amp remote
