Removing ABS from my race car

  172
Hi Guys,

Been lurking a while, this is first of many posts I'm sure. My ABS is running wet race days.

My question:

1) if I unplug the in-line plugs running from the front ABS sensors (under the arches front and rear), will it deactivate ABS without effecting the brake bias?

2) if not what can I do to remove it, I know I shouldn't pull the fuse.

Thanks

If you make it look like a sensor fault I don't see why it would go 50:50, it is not the same as pulling the fuse.

It must fail safe surely.

I thought this, but as the car isnt road legal I dont want to find out at the first corner when racing ;)

Does anyone else know for sure?

Tnanks guys

This is exactly it, disconnect 1 sensor (1 is enough), ABS will default but unit still powered and you'll keep brake bias, remove the fuse and it will default to 50/50 bias.

Resurrecting a very old thread!

Planning on fitting the larger rear wheel hub kit to a track-only (trailered) 182 Cup. Larger hubs have no reluctor ring or abs sensor mount.

Previous owner disabled the ABS (no idea what/how) so usual fault lights in the dash, no brake pedal pulse, speedo still works. Visually, all the usual gubbins is still there though. Car has always braked brilliantly.

Question then. Does the advice given here still hold true? Obviously keen to retain the bias.

Disconnect 1 sensor (1 is enough), ABS will default but unit still powered and you'll keep brake bias, remove the fuse and it will default to 50/50 bias.
