Removing biro from alcantara

Nipped out from work the other day to get some lunch, forgot I had a Bic pen in my back pocket - lid popped off and now left with a 1cm long blue line on the alcantara of the seat back.

Obviously lots of stain removal products out there, but anyone have any recommendations? Preferably something I can just get from a supermarket or wherever, something that won't require scrubbing with a brush, don't want to have to soak the seat, and obviously no change in colour of the alacantara.

Any thoughts?

Cheers in advance

I know, I know...........but I know it's there! (Besides, I didn't measure it - could even be as much as 11mm.....)

Would have thought that would smear it across a bigger area - don't really want to experiment, or maybe you know better and are speaking from experience? Just figured that someone would know 'off the top of their head' a quick and easy way to remove - but maybe no-one else has been as dim as me to have done this.

It won't smear it, if it starts "moving around" it'll come off.

If I were you, I'd get some standard hand wash soap, or fairy liquid, bit of warm water, and then a thing with just water in it. Give it a scrub with a microfibre.

Trust me on this one. Hairspray. Our daughter drew all over our cream sofa with biro, you can hardly see it now. Dab it with some kitchen towel, don't rub it.

First things i would think of is fairy and scratching it,

Then failing that, hair spray dabbed on,

If not then tar remover but im not sure if that would harm the alcantara's colour.

autobrite direct do an alcantra cleaner

Finally.

Depends on how precious you are. £15 for the right product (as above, search for it in google) or £5 on the wrong products then £Xxx on a new seat... I know what I'd invest in...

It's a clio seat, it'll be fine forearms!!!!

I swear the cliosport detailers think that they're made out of unicorn flesh and will explode if touched with anything other than £1,000,000 cleaning products ;)

Responses much appreciated :)

Fully intended sorting that mark and one or two other things on the car at the weekend, but haven't been so well last few days. Sadly don't have a garage, so will have to wait til this coming weekend and daylight.

Hopefully hasn't now been left too long. Maybe a case of 'eeny, meeny, miny, moe' with regard to what to try (although no offence, but £15 seems a bit steep).

Vanish carpet cleaner is a great shout. Or a spray on stain remover (type you'd use on clothes)

Just make sure you wash it off with a wet cloth after.

You mean Kev and I, or the cars? I R Confused deetaylar.

FYI "the towels I use on my car are more expensive than the towels I dry myself with". Paul Dalton. Innit.

Thank you

Or you could throw some red wine over it followed by white wine and a good scrub afterwards.

Buy it, don't destroy your seat, sell it on (keeping a small 10ml bottle just in case) you'll easily get £12 for it once you've used it.

job done, and done properly!

Already had some Vanish carpet cleaner, which I hadn't realised is also an upholstery cleaner - so gave it a go. Applied a small amount, left it for a minute, and then blotted repeatedly with a sheet of white kitchen towel (using a fresh area each time) to see what it was doing. Each time was left with a short blue line of ink on the towel, but none of the grey of the Alcantara. Put a bit more Vanish on, left for a few minutes, and repeated blotting until no blue was coming off. Applied some water, rubbed it a bit with my fingers, and blotted it as dry as I could. Was getting dark, and with that area of the seat damp, couldn't tell so left it. Today - gave it a vac.

Result? Looks fine - if there is any ink left it's so imperceptible that I couldn't see it, and I knew the area to look in. Think I could have used less Vanish, but will know for next time.

Cheers all.
