im going be taking out a cd changer on saturday, have searched all the threads on here and they all say to remove the dash, is there any way of taking out the cable without removing the dash?

It's impossible. I tried on my first 172. The only way of getting the cable out is to remove the top of the dash as the cable is clipped around the front of the airbag.

I removed the changer and purchased a new cable when I installed it in the 182. From memory the cable is around £75!!

Yeah, I just ran the cable under the door sill trim as Renault do, then using the clip supplied clipped it by the bonnet release. I think tied it up on the underside of the dash beneath the glove box and fed it in to the back where the headunit sits. Really easy to do.
