Removing Corroded Bolts

  307 hdi (powered by derv)
But of advice really.

I was given th task today of fitting a new exhaust front pipe to my dads metro today due to the current one breaking on the welds.

The 3 bolts where it fixes onto the manifold have corroded and when i get the socket on there to undo it it justs slips.

I ahve already wire brushed them and i have covered them in wd40 and gt85 overnight.

I'm goin g to borrow my mates sockets to see if any of his will hold on tight.

But in the meantime any tips?

WD40 and GT85 are not a release fluid, I would use Plus Gas, soak it overnight .....never fails.

Are you using single or bi-hex sockets? ive found bi-hex to be crap for rounding bolts off. Ive heard that a small blowtorch might do the trick for getting rid of the corrosion though.

Try and use an imperial socket the step down from your metric one and hammer it on or failing that apply heat to the bolt and then hammer it back on
