removing headlights covers

When i bought my clio(ph1 172), it already had headlight covers on it. Those 3-holed plastic ones. I kinda like it without any covers so i decided to remove them. One of the covers is quite loose and can be removed without much effort but the other one is stuck there like a police on your ass when you're speeding. They are both attached to the lights with some sort of black double-sided material. Is there an easy way how i can remove the tighter cover from the light without damaging the surface? I don't really care about the covers, they might as well break when taking off. I tried to stick a flat wooden knife through a small opening under the cover to get it loose, but didn't work.

All I can tell you is that the headlight plastic is incredibly strong and around 5-6mm thick - there is very little chance of you damaging it. Attack it properly, but try not to scratch it.

Oops, thats what i meant by damaging the surface. Already accidentally made a small scratch and i know that it might change the way the light reflects causing it to go wherever it wants.
