Removing rusted screws...

  Titanium 182
I want to remove my bumper on the 182 as whilst the previous owner had it she accidentally hit a rabbit  which caused the lower grill to be pushed back from the bumper. I've managed to clip the bottom off it into the bumper by grasping my hands through the 'mesh,' but the top won't budge. It'll also be handy if I have the bumper off to fit the new splitter!

Anyway, back to the question; I set about today removing the bumper but before I got a chance to start I saw the front bumper screws (second ones down which are holding the arch lining) have rusted and lost their screw heads. I was thinking about using a tap and die set to remove them, or drilling into the screw itself but I'm not sure if that's such a smart thing to do?

Any help from you guys would be great.

Don't need to remove the bumper to remove the grilles.

Those screws holding in the arches are a royal PITA to get off even if they are brand new.

They aren't in that tight though so iirc I've used a set of pliers to grip them and turn them and it worked, might have to try and undo it just a little if possible though to get a better grip.

I know that u-nuts are used to go around the arch liner and a torx screw through the middle, should be able to use pliers to get them out.

One of the u-nuts is fcuked on mine, I'm gonna have to cut it off cos its bent and the screw is stuck lol!

Just ordered a complete new set from Renault tho.

Cheers guys, I managed to get them off just after I posted this using a set pliers as you've said. I'll definitely be changing the screws for some new ones, and I'll definitely be dipping them in waxoyl! lol

I know, but for some reason the top clips are being a complete bugger to clip back in. I need to fit my splitter anyway and it'll be so much easier with the bumper off. Imo. :)

Leave the screws for the arch liners in place, and undo the clips in the top of the wheel arch for the liners. Remove the bumper complete with arch liners still attached.

Whoops, too late! Didn't realise you could remove it all as one piece. What about the scuttle panel underneath/behind the bumper? That doesn't all come out does it?
