Removing Tar/Brake Dust from White Wheels?

  SchwepTek™
Since using Wonder Wheels and it stripping the paint off my last set of wheels I don't want to use it ever again LOL so anyone know what else I can use to remove the horrible yellow and black staining on my 2118s?

I use as clean wheels, works v well. Have you tried ag tar remover?

if you wash, clay, wax and seal regular then you will find it abit easier to keep on top of it. Not saying you dont that is! ;)

ive recently gone over mine using meguirs clay to get rid of the yellowy/orangy cr*p and then polish with AG super resin and then sealed with AG extra gloss.

Worked out great for me, got rid of tar and all the cr*p.

White wheels = nightmare

I used AG alloy wheel seal and poorboys wheel sealent. And i wash them every 2 days or so now. AG wheel clean for that, bites into all the muck. And a wee top up with ag wheel seal gets them lookin good

I used stainless steel cleaner/degreaser from in my mams cleaning cupboard to clean my wheels, worked a treat.

i've used an industrial degreaser called jantol before, with pretty impressive results.

it is pretty neutral, as in non caustic, and specifically says safe for use on vehicles and paintwork.

Give it a good blast with bilberry w/ brush. Then use some clay to shift the real stubborn stuff, but seal the wheels up, otherwise you'll be doing it many more times.

I've just done mine

I used degreaser first, then wacked some wonder wheels on, gave it a fair few goings over with multiple brillo pads, and more wonder wheels, washed off, AG clean wheels, agitate, then wash off, then got the ITR on it, which got rid of loads of little black spots that wudnt shift.

After that, washed off, gave them a gd clean again, then EGP, they're shiny now and have nice inside rims :D

You've clearly never seen Andy's car.

Think of Richard Burns' car after a welsh rally stage....

why not brillo pads?

I've not seen any adverse affects from it!

Although, I'm sure there is probably other stuff that can be used?

It dulled the finish on parts of my wheels with fine scratches.

I guess it depends on what finish your wheels have but if you have painted and lacquered wheels then i really do not recommend it

ah, i did the inside of the wheels, so i'm not too fussed, it came out quite nice after ITR and EGP, quite happy with the results, wouldnt use it on the frnts of the wheels tho :D

If they are the original paint the autosmart tardis is the dogz at getting tar off. If they have been sprayed try clay and hand polish to finish off. Protect of course.

Watch bilberry with your hands! It's strong! And don't try and use a degreaser with clay! lol. MELTY MELTY!
