Renault are muppets!!!

  Mazda 2, MX5 Mk2.5 Sport

Took my 172 in on friday for an oil change after only 1050 miles from new, brought nearly 50 quids worth of mobile 1 only to find on saturday that my car was stinking of burning oil so I thought Id better pop the bonnet and have a look only to see my filler cap on top of the bulk head. Those stupid muppets had even put the little cover on that goes on after the filler cap.

I just cant believe they would be that stupid!?!? cost me 40 quid labour as well.

On the upside it looks like Ive got a free steam/valet out of it when it goes in for the seatbelt bolts to be replaced (recalled apparently)

I like the way youve been fooled into thinking its a postive thing that your car has been recalled!

Bad luck anyway, i didnt have an engine cover or that oil cap from new!

£40 labour? You must be crackers to pay them that much just to change the oil!

I got mine done for free actually...
SO did I Rob - from my local excellent independent garage, I just paid cost price for the oil. :D It is handy having a garage owner and good mechanics as mates!

here we go again. I so want to get out of reno now. I really like the car, but not reno. i did some maths at the weekend and I could just, just, scrape by and bail out of the reno and get myself something else. If I totally loved the Clio (Im not quite there yet) Id probably tolerate all this nonsense. But right now, I just want out.

Cant you find yourself a GOOD LOCAL GARAGE? Providing they use genuine Renault parts your warranty isnt affected and at least they are far more thorough than dealers can ever hope to be.

We think Renault are bad - a friend of a friend had his Volvo S40 in at the dealer last week and complained because of the shoddy service and the massive amount of labour costs. One of the costs was £51 to replace some light bulbs. My friend told them to take them out, deduct the £51 and he went to Halfords, bought the three little bulbs and put them in himself.

There was other work he got billed for that they didnt ask if he agreed to have done, so he deducted that too before paying the bill. We should all be a bit more like that instead of letting these rip-off merchants get away with robbing us.

I know.....I wish Id done it myself but they were supposed to do the sealt belt bolts at the same time and I thought It would be good on the history that renault put mobile 1 in after 1050 miles. It was £35 originally but they said that 5 liters wasnt quite enough so they added on a fiver for an extra litre instead of a tenner.......has anyone else had to have the seat belt bolt done??? just wondering why the recall??

nope but when mine whent in on friday they checked to see if my spedo was working and they did a check on the cluster and said there is a fault with most 172s they dont know what it is or how to fix it and neither do renault but when they do they will let me know

You guys should feel lucky!

My other half has a Dci and hers has been in for the following: -

Recall 1 - Replacement Sump bolts - While replacing them the dealer found a crack in the block after only 12,000 miles. Car was gone for nearly 2 weeks for a new engine.

Recall 2 - Seat belt pretensioner bolts - Car was fixed in a day returned to us with a shreaded fan belt. They also tightened the clutch which is now so tight it induces a limp after even short journeys.

The delivery of my 172 was delayed by 10 days due to the seat belt fault. Drivers height adjuster doesnt work. Rear brakes sticking and I get a strange ping/slight bang from the passangers side front wheel when I first set of in a morning. Oh and its only 10 days old

Oh and the dash rattles....

Sorry rant over

I wouldnt let a renault dealer anywhere near my car after some of the stories i have heard. I prefer to do stuff myself or get my local respectable garage to do major work.

I feel sorry for you people who have to keep taking there cars for warranty and recall work.
