Renault discontinuing parts

  PH2 172
They have discontinued the 182 handbrake cables. This is my point. I got a first line one today. Will it not fit?

@bloke seems to have had some problem in the past.

All aftermarket LHR cables 8200228347 seem to have been manufactured to a specification of 1378cm total length, and an outer casing length of 1101cm.

If yours measures this, and does not fit, there has been a monumental c**k up.

I tried 2 different pagid ones from ecp, one was listed for a 182, the other for a 172

Both were fine in actual length of the cable, but both were about 2cm too short on the outer cable casing so it wouldn't slot home properly in the caliper

Correction, 1378mm/1101mm, not that anyone has noticed that these would fit a coach.

Try owning a r5 gt turbo hardly any oem parts are available for them from the dealers. All new oem that people have hoarded are massive dollar.

If you want to buy stuff to restore or refresh, or generally hord parts now is the time. Loads of good used bits about for peanuts.

I wonder when service bits, belts/dephaser will be discontinued. That will be a royal pain if no alternative options.

I've started to hoard parts badly, GSF did a flash sale getting rid of all the SNR rear discs for 172's for £30 a pair.

So being the weirdo I am I bought 5 pairs? Same with the Purflux oil filters, they had em for £4 so I got 5 of them too because why the f**k not lol

  dan's cast offs.
As a general rule if it isn't colour coded and has a white clip on the car end it's not going to fit.

I got an O/S Genuine Renault 182 handbrake cable a couple of months ago from my mate at local Renault Main Dealer no problem.
Fitted it no probs.

Hahaha this is cute, give it another ten years and see how much the few and far between new bits are going for. Hoard now, stash it away, believe me.

Well if you want proper encouragement, it's usually stupid insignificant pieces that end up being worth big money. Tiny bits of trim or bits people used to cut up or throw away all the time.

Check out this Escort parcel shelf for nearly 300 notes!!

Holy f**k! I know the secret cubby holes that go underneath the 172 parcel shelves are going for good money but nowhere near that!!!

I think I just bought a load of unbroken ECU brackets and other s**t, it's a good job I'm employed because I couldn't hack the dole just for the lack of car parts

A few of my mates started collecting Raider and Williams parts around 5 years ago including a s**t tonne of C1J and C6J engines when people started to strip cars willy nilly. Proper random stuff too like decals and wheel centre caps

I now envy them massively as they're quids in

I threw so much Renault 5 stuff away as I couldn't even get people to cover the postage on it and it was eating up a whole garage worth of space :(

This type of encouragement isn't helping my garage space!!!
Mate, I have a Clio V6, which is s**t to get parts for BUT as long as you are prepared to pay (and I mean eye watering money) most stuff is gettable.
I also have a Renault 21 Turbo Quadra which is a real struggle now, new stuff is mostly gone.
Then...the 9 Turbo. I'm currently about to pay a horrific sum to ship rear lights over from Turkey that have taken me a year to track down and then find someone to help with local language, currency and shipping because the vendors dont seem to want to sell outside the country.

Hoard now. If I could tell myself three things twenty years ago it would be "Buy Bitcoin, Hoard new Renault spares and buy a house NOW"

You should visit Turkey if you've not been - people are rolling around in mint (ok, not rusty...) Renault 9s and stuff of a similar vintage everywhere! lol

I'm not surprised people don't want to ship stuff out of the country - IIRC they have ridiculous new/import taxes for cars made elsewhere, so I imagine they don't want to lose all their parts etc. to overseas.

If I had the time/money/mechanical skillzz I'd happily fly over and drive stuff home, but it's a lonnnng way lol

I'll tell you why this can't happen. It's because I would end up spending all my holiday money on a Renault 9 non rusty drivable heap, fill it with bits, send her and the kids home on the Plane and drive myself back with my stash of goodies.

Well I currently have a grille and 2 back lights coming, brand new, $30 in parts, $50 in shipping lol. If this works out he lists a load of other stuff too, in particular R9 and R21 sill replacement panels which I would VERY much like.
