Clutch started slipping last week if you put ANY pressure on the clutch pedal and I mean if you even tapped it it slipped.
Wasn't going to do anything about it until it started properly slipping and on wednesday it did :dapprove:, took a 100 mile run to doncaster and that seemed to finish it off, it was slipping in every gear bar 1st all the time.
Left it for 6 hours or so and then attempted to drive it home hoping it'd hold together which luckily it did but accelerating was mucho fun as you can imagine.
I'd assumed something had broken in the clutch somewhere as it'd suddenly started doing it last week, but upon getting the gearbox out and looking at the clutch it became apparent that the clutch was fine bar the fact that it had a lovely coating of gearbox oil on it :dapprove:.
The bloody oil seal on the input shaft of the gearbox had expired which on the long journey had given the clutch a good old coating.
So as it stands its cost me £83 for a new clutch and my gearbox is currently in pieces in the garage awaiting a gold plated £41 seal and bearing from renault which should be here tomorrow morning, uhhh
.
I'm sure this shouldn't happen to a 3 year old car with 28k on the clock, but thats renault ownership I guess.
Just having a good old moan 'cos its pissed me off totally, i've had one of those weeks.
I'm hoping i've got it back together tomorrow or sunday so I can get back to having fun in it, not under it, and i've come to the conclusion that an astra is the most boring car i've ever driven after driving my mums around for the rest of the week.
