  MKIII 138
presumably the aerodynamics, brakes, suspension, power delivery and power to weight, traction control, launch control are all so much better today that 800bhp is faster round a track than 1200-1400bhp

also safer of course

  Turbos.
Shame today's cameras aren't mounted there, it gives a much better impression of speed and you can actually see what they're doing..

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!
hang on, 1200 bhp from a 1.5? is that right

i think there should be a no restrictions race series.
see what is really possible.

Yep. The F1 teams then could have high capacity N/A engines i.e. 3.5l v8's or small forced induction engines, I think 1500cc was the limit.

BMW made one with approx 1400-1500bhp.

Look at the size of the turbo! Super laggy.

Clarkson did a TV show about the F1 engines and apparently BMW pissed on there blocks to strengthen them.

Won't be that lagy when you thinkg engines were running at serious rpm.
