Renault Never Learn

  Yaris Hybrid

After my neighbour bought a 182 Cup his mate decided to get one as well.

Had a call last night from my neighbour asking me for help because they had some problems with the new 182 Cup his mate picked up yesterday.

You wont be surprised to hear that it had no front splitter - I mean FFS how many times does that have to happen?!?!?! 182 Cups should all come with Cup splitters as standard right?!?

There is an issue with the stripes too. They are on a bit of a wonk. Now how easy is it for that to be sorted? I.e. when factory fitted are they under some kind of lacquer or will it be easy for the dealer to remove and re-apply them? Also my neighbour said that the stripes only go down as far as the number plate on the on the boot? I believe that is actually correct though?

Also on the door sills my full fat 182 has some kind of silver plastic strip with Renault Sport or something written on it but my neighbours Cup has more of a silver sticker. His mates car has NOTHING though!!! Are they supposed to come with a silver strip there? Is he entitled to ask for them?

There apparently are some other problems but I will find out more tonight. If I can have some answers for the above I will give him mate some ammunition to take the dealer. Cheers.

Renault make very good cars, but they dont build them very well unfortunately, and the dealers just make it worse too

Hopefully all that above will get sorted

Some dealers are supplying splitters, but not fitting them.

The left stripe on the boot should come down to the "LT" in renault and stop, then start again under the badge. The right stripe should come down all the way behind the number plate without stopping.

The Cup is total barebones compared to the 182. You get no engine cover, you get no sill plates, you get a 1.2 dynamique interior, no aluminium on the steering wheel, not even renaultsport written on the rev counter. You get metal pedals though and if youre lucky youll get "cup" badges for the door pillars. But you know what? I love it.

With regards to the sill plate, the full fat model has thicker plastic looking ones where as my neighbours Cup has a metallic sticker type affair.

Now if my neighbours Cup has that, why doesnt his mates? Does the factory fit it one minute but not another or was it his dealer that stuck them on to help sell the car?

Thanks for the rest of the info and the picture of the rear of the car guys, I will see him tonight and find out what the rest of the problems are.

I actually really like the Cup, the seats are alright and I dont think Id miss the other items although if you have got them its nice to have them if you know what I mean. 20kg is a decent weight saving though, I was going remove the 1kg fire extinguisher cos I thought it was too heavy!
