Renault Service mentality

Had a small issue with the car this morning so I called the garage first thing and asked if I could take it down and get it looked at. Because its only 3 weeks old they agreed. When I got there I explained exactly what was wrong and what they needed to do to fix it, I also pointed out it could make the car unusable if it goes un fixed. To which he replied "the AA will give you a car if it breaks down". WTF, they could actually just fix the fault then I wouldnt need to test out the AA cover I get with the car.

Anyway, did the test drive with an RTE and all was fine till we got back to the garage, he noted it and they have booked me in for 2 weeks yesterday.

As I drove to work from the garage the problem continued.

Nothing serious, just the engine temperature sensor reading incorrectly causing it to idle high (waste my petrol), have the lower limiter, and eventually in extreme cases flood the engine causing it to cut out! It is up and down though so sometimes its fine.

Im not bothered about the fault, these things happen, but the fact the only way to get it fixed promptly is to actually break down and get the AA to take the car in is amazing!!

You have to laugh though!:p

What is just as worrying is people have been having this problem for donkeys and the are still building new cars that have the same problem.

yeh, dont think renault think its a problem though, sure they call it a feature lol

Lee, how is the car for rattles etc. - is it the same as all the other models or built a bit better?

Also, have you had the engine mount knocking sound that seems to be built into all 182s - or have Renault solved that with this new model?

So far so good. No knocks or rattles.
Dont hold your breath....lol.

Such a shame that such excellent motors are let down by the dealers. Ive been nothing short of gobsmacked at how ace my Clio is, but the dealers have been woeful and the only real downside to owning one.

Ive had a re think. Im going back in on Monday and telling them to fix the f**king thing. Its drinking petrol at an alarming rate and the fluctuating rev limiter is a pain in the arse. The last thing I want in this temperature is a car which thinks that its stone cold. It can only lead to more damage.

You can get most tat sorted within 30 days of purchase but not a £15.5k car!!

Sounds a right pain, hope you can get them to sort it on Monday.

Renault forgot to fit an alarm in my Trophy (got overlooked at the import centre) http://cliotrophy.co.uk/forum/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif.

I have to give credit to my dealer (Liningtons, Portsmouth) who responded excellently. They arranged for a team from the import center to come out and install the alarm the very next day. Shame all dealers cant have the same attitude

Lee this is a common problem dude. I am utterly amazed that even newer cars still have the issue. I had this in my Cup some months back. Japanese TypeR for me next I think.

Ive had the same problems....

It first went @ brands... then fixed under warranty...

It went again last month, but its intermittent...

I sometimes get the high idling, and poor consumption... and sometimes the car doesnt start.

I suspect my issues are ALL due to a broken ECU holder, which has caused all sorts of wiring/connections to go dodgy.

Let us know what they say....?

ClarkieV6 will be doing a full-diagnostic on my car, instead of just changing the sensor and sending me off.
