Renault sport options

Just been reading the first drive of the 182 cup in this weeks autocar and at the end it mentions forth coming renault sport options like Recaro seats, engine managements chips, exhausts rollcages etc, just wondered if anyone had any more details?

Yeah, guess theyd take the side ones out. You can specify full on race seats on the Mini which lose them.

bet this stuff never materialises. shame, cos the weight saving on losing two airbags + generally lighter seats would make the 182 "team" another 25+kgs light at least + on top of the exisiting 20kgs weight loss would make for a 0-60 to around 6.3 . actually didnt autocar get 6.3 for the 182 anyway ? so it could actually be faster still.

Hopefully youd be sat lower down aswell.. only 1 prob left then, giant stering wheel.

Ide be in for them, buit I have heating as well on them maybe this will give problems.

as long as im not sat too high. its weird driving my 172. i know the car is lower down than most cars on the road (eibachs also) but im physically higher than most cars and thats with the seats lowest possible setting. anyways if the airbags arent an issue why dont peeps just get recaros/cobras anyways ?

although i suppose on resale it will be a nice factory option to have.

I have thought about aftermarket ones - but would prefer them as an official option for both resale & insurance purposes. I soooo miss my Recaros from my old Honda.

Any idea when they are likely to be offered Jeremy?

To be clear (!), we plan to have recaros. As you rightly point out, dont hold your breath. If they arrive, all well and good. If not, nothing lost...

No it only had marketing options.

Options on the cup. now that would be good. The seats would be cool due to the weight loss but itd be really cool if they did an ecu and fully uprated exhaust without the extreme noise and also air intake. Then the 182 cup would be pushing out a fair whack and with qutie a bit of lightening.

Why not buy a 172 Cup for £8,000 say, save yourself £5,000 and spend that on the car and mods.

They tried to deny they ever mentioned any extras mate, that was until I sent them a copy of their own brochure. Then it all went quiet.......... No doubt a marketing scam. Lets build up the hype, chuck in some nice official extras with absolutely no intention of ever releasing them.
