Renault Warranty

  BMW 320d SE
My NSR shock absorber has blown. The car is 2 years old. The Renault dealer is saying that the shock is no longer under warranty, and so they won't change it without charging me. Are they right, as I can't find the terms and conditions of my warranty anywhere?
What's the point in a 3 year warranty if they exclude parts?

im having the same problem with my cup steering wheel...its split and the stitching is coming undone....

When I asked about, they said it was covered under warrenty on the computer but apparently "it is a grey area" so they would need to send off to renault for inspection....

well sorry but if the computer says it is covered under warrenty then there is nothing grey about it......seems pretty damn black and white to me.

that should be covered i had one at 42k on my 172...... It is a design fault that the rubber expands with heat and cracks.

With regards the shocker, after 2yrs, then it is a wear and tear item and as such is not cover after the first 12mths.

It should be covered as although there wear and tear items if they fail early one (upto say 80k IMO) then its a design failure I don't think Renault Uk could realy argue otherwise other manurfacturers shocks last much longer.

Rear shock went on my Cup too, 26k nearly 3 yrs old - dealers refused to cover, reno customer services couldn't care less.

Warranty wording does not specifically excluded them, but customers services claim the book is not gospel and is for "guidance only"!! I am going to write to customers services and make them pay, as have given up trying to have a sensible conversation with any of them.

Werid thing is when the car went in for the shocks, i asked them to look @ the exhaust which had the 4k rattle - one dealer had refused to cover already, but thought it was worth a try. Although the warranty book specifically excludes exhausts as wear and tear - they agreed to replace the exhaust under warranty!! Go figure.

It's like trying to get blood from a stone tbh. I've just about given up and resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to go elsewhere for shocks.
Oh well........ at least now I've got no excuse to not get coilovers! :D
