Renault Warrenty

i took delivery of my 1.4 16v on 30.11 after ordering her the day the 2003 range was launched.

i have what sound sounds like a loose screw behind the dash which is driving me mental - usual remedy is turn up the music.

i called my dealer to book her in to get looked at and i was advised that they will look at her but if it turns out it was something i have done or something i have had in car which has fallen behind dash i will be responsible for the bill which was estimated at being a full days labour. please remember these were the same dealers who told me that "renault dont make touch up paint for black cars"

i have never removed dash or done anything to it so is this correct? seems a tad harsh and to be honest i wouldnt trust my dealers at all.

is there a certain time limit for having these things sorted out? she will be 6 months old at the end of the month and has done just over 3,000 miles

If this noise has developed since you have bought the car then it should be covered under warranty. If you have been tampering with the dash in anyway & accidentally caused this problem then you may be left with a small bill (DONT TELL EM YOUVE BEEN TAMPERIN IF YOU HAVE !!). It only takes 5 minutes to take a dashboard top off to see whats underneath though, so whoever told you its a full days labour is wrong. Renault have set times for certain procedures and this job is roughly about 1 hrs labour (unless its a major op & the lots gotta come out) but this is very rare & ive never come accross it before. its probably just a screw or a bit of trim rattlin around - dont worry about it.

I’ve had a similar problem with my dealers! My rear seatbelt was monged, so I took it to them and they said they found some plastic or something in the seatbelt! and said they were going to charge me for another seatbelt! I said "leave the f**ker in then cause I don’t sit in the back" another man promptly appeared and gave me my keys! They had blatantly already put a new one in and expected me to pay for it! FOOOLS!
What I’d do mate is say "the car is less than a year old and the warranty clearly stats that if theres any problems that you losers will sort it! Give them your keys! When you return, ask them what the problem was and if they say well it was something that wasn’t part of the car making the noise and we will have to bill you then say! "Put what ever was making the f**king noise back in there and I will have to make do with your inadequate designs! The cars supposed to be practical and if objects can fall behind the dash then you should get hold of your design team and tell them to make LESS GAPES!!!! Then grab your keys and say "good day assholes" then run fast! very fast! then possibly mistake your car for the 3ltr v6 show car! Im sure it will work :D

Are you could just contact RENAULT customer services if the dealer is not helping you in anyway. These guys are VERY good and no doubt they will help you get your car sorted out.

The Sale and Supply Of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002 came into effect on the 31st March this year. Basically in the first 6 months the consumer does not have to prove the goods were faulty at the time of the sale/purchase, it is assumed that they were. If the retailer does not agree, it is for him to prove that the goods were satisfactory at the time of sale.

If in doubt contact your local trading standards who will adivse, be warned this is very new legisation and many people are still not aware of it. Hold your guns, complain but get a move on cause six months run out soon. Also even after the six months you have some legal comeback as the goods were not up for the job.

thanks for that, actuallymy girlfriend told me about that around 10 minutes ago, she works in retail and has had to train her staff about it

called my dealers today, got told a pile of sh*te as usual so called other branch of same dealers and got told to bring it in next friday, leave it for the day and they will deal with it under warranty!
