Renaultsport Oulton Park track day pics 30.06.06

I took a few pics around mid day yesterday while I was waiting for my 197 drive.

I know they are all from the same spot, and I know some of them aren't very well focused, but I was too busy on track to take anymore and was playing with the camera a bit to try and get some better shots.

Anyway, if anyone wants full sized ones of any of the images let me know and I'll try and sort them out.

Ta, Canon 350D with a 90-300mm lens on it. I'm still trying to work out how to use it properly.

Nice shots Lee, good bit of movement. All a big learning process I am finding the more practice I get - the more keepers I am getting in the manual modes.

How did the 197 feel like around the track, Lee?

To save me typing out out again this is what I posted over on the Renaultsport forums:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]I don't really want to comment to much as I only got two laps in it. I was due to get some proper time in it later but the spare 197 was on taxi duty. (you should have taken my car Sally, the French would have appreciated the Trophy more than the 197, not having the Trophy over there)

First impressions. The brakes are amazing, the clutch is very very light and even higher than the 182, it's quiet and comfortable compared to the Trophy. It feels like it corners fairly flat and has bags of grip although the steering is a bit on the light side and not as talkative as the 182, but then mine did leak power steering fluid yesterday! The engine was as tight a nuns chuff so it would be unfair to comment on that, but even still it didn't have a noticable kick at 5k. I can't help thinking more power would be nice. Oh and I wasn't a fan of the gearbox, even the instructor kept selecting 5th over 3rd. The standard seats are fantastic as is the wheel, and now you can finally adjust the driving position to suit which is a big improvement.

Following one round on track (holding me up of course) it does look wide and purposeful.

Comparing it to the Trophy wouldn't be right as the Trophy is a more specialist bit of kit, and for that reason it's amazing on track yet a little hardcore for the road at times. Comparing it to my previous 182 I think it's a decent evolution, but I really need to spend more time behind the wheel before I can comment more than that.

I'll probably wait until Brands now before I get to give one a proper drive.

lovin the pic of mazs car in the last gallery (its in full frame all blured)

I was really pleased with that too. It was easier to catch Maz as she pootled by. ;)

None of the images are cropped, that's how they were shot.

yeah, that was bloody scary!!! shat myself more then, than on the track! It had a good rest in the garage over the weekend while I was away.

^^ good job I noticed or it could have been nasty .. esp if it went into the trophy that was in front of it ..

and me! never ran so fast in my life!

also thanks to that guy (sorry don't know who he is) for running in front of it to stop it!

maybe my 182 fancied the Trophy opposite?? :)
