reno has put 10w40 in my cup

  172 cup
am i right in thinking it should be 5w40?
should i take it back and get the right stuff put in?
cheers

  Volvo S60 T5
yeah should be 5w/40 Elf Excillium.
10/40 wont hurt it, have used it on mine when it was free of charge (used to work at a dealer)

10-40 is fine though its allowed under Renault specifications down to somehting like -20 degrees so no need to worry.
5-40 is better helps protect the engine from colder but nothing worthwhile.

They did that to my 182 back in March. My service book said it should be 5w40, Renault customer service said it should be 5w40 but the dealer said it should be 10w40. They then produced a service sheet thing which said 10w40 and that is what they were going to go by. I may not have bothered with changing it but they missed stuff off the service and overcharged me so i got them to change it as i was fed up. Got £50 off the bill and a full tank of petrol too.

Ype the dealership know what there on about and don't want to have to use some of the more expensive stuff so there both cheap and skilled playing inside the rules standard but realy hry should have used it as its better but why would they care after all it won't matter for 15 years what oil its been run on for 99% of customers.

  Monaco Blue 172
topped mine up with 10w40 as i've got loads left over from my prev car! doesnt seem to have caused any problems

£170 for an oil change and an air filter and then they put the wrong oil in.
i wonder how closely they looked when they did the MOT, probably me beind paranoid as i hate paying silly prices for a stamp in a book.

it'll just take a wee bitty longer to warm up from cold.

Need to gentle for a bit longer. Thays if you leave it to warm up for u caine its ass

I use 10w40.

Never had any issues in 30k miles - starts well and warms up fairly quick too.

  182
had the same problem but had there curtesy car so refused to give it back till they changed the oil etc and so forth they did change it

Fit an oil temp gauge its the best mod you can do for your clio if your gonna rape its ass.

Should never put the lead foot on the gas until oil is up to temp

About 4 - 5 miles of steady driving is sufficient to get oil up to temp, will be less if your on a motorway/A road

  Weeman sucks ****
Renault should put 5w40 into the sport models but not all of them do.

You should be fine with 10w40, mine used to run on it ok.
