Replacing full track rod not just the ends

As on my previous thread how do I replace the whole track rod not just the ends as mentioned in my previous thread it's absolutely f*cked I mean 60-70 degree bend in it hub side at least need to replace it to get my car to a mechanic to check it over further

Factors sell the whole thing - tie rod arm and track rod end.. You need to use a big pair of grips under the inner rubber gaiter and the arm unscrews.

Im looking to replace the inner ties as well but ive been told that you need the special tool to remove the inner tie's.

I've heard the special tool is just a stud extractor a pair of mole gripes / vice grips will suffice mate

there are flats to get a spanner on. From memory it's a 32mm you need. has to be a thin/modified spanner though

AST/Snap-on do a tool thats simple and effective but unless you're doing them all the time its not gonna be worth the cost. Why don't you just pay someone to do it for you and save the hassle?

I fear this logic may be lost on someone who's used £30 tyres on a 172

It's not a 172 mate it's just a 1.2 with a 172 kit on it

I'll have a look when I get a new rod I have lost my locking but key though I know that I'm having no luck wih this car! How do I get a locking nut off without a key?

Chapster5 sounds like you got some issues, no key for starters this job just got harder. To be honest if you can afford it get it done by a mechanic, if not good luck and have a read in here to if you haven't already

How do I get a locking nut off without a key?

Hammer and bolster or hit a socket on.

Either way will ruin the bolt but if you don't have the key it doesn't make a difference.

Cheers guys I'll nip my local motor factors first and see if they have anything available for removing them if not an oversize socket it is

No a smaller socket is required , pic of locking bolt would be good

if its the standard "anti-spin" type locking wheel nut commonly used on Renaults since 2001 then a socket smashed over the top won't do dick.

I'll put a pic up tomorrow it's a solid bolt with a round head and has 4 oblong rectangles cut out at different angles around its diameter
