resistor pack fixing

a friend of mine is having problems with there a/c in a 182.
have bridged pin 1 and 5 on the resistor connections and the fan worked.

so am guessing that the resistor is broken.

ive been doing some searching on this and have read somewhere that it is possible to fix the resistor instead of spending £100 on a new one.

my old mans quite handy with electricals. so does any1 have any more information on fixing the resistor? cheers

also will it harm the car to drive it with the resistor out? whilsy the resistor is getting looked at? cheers

should be ok to drive without. In reference to repair i think they are probably sealed with epoxy.

yeah i have the unit opend. it has got a white glue type stuff over the front of it. and it looks like it will come off.

i need some more information on the resistor pack i.e what the chip people replace on it is called and where i could find one.

could really do with speaking to J666EDS does any1 know if hes online still?

also if i find out this information could offer a service to fix others and replace with the uprated part j666eds talks about if i can find out which component it is that needs replacing thanks. as ive been told its probally the main chip
