Retro-Fitting Cruise Control

I have a 2003 Renault Clio Dynamique (Billabong edition) that doesnt currently have cruise control, and i would like to fit. I do not want to pay the £400 that online generic kits cost though. Can this be done? How? I have seen other forums where people have done this DIY, and this is not something i have a problem with.

I do know that i have 2 wires going to a blank socket on the panel where the cruise control on/off button would be (next to the beam height adjustment, where my right knee would be while driving), but obviously no actual button itself. Do these have anything to do with it? If not what are they for? I have tried playing (connecting/disconnecting) with no luck.

TIA

Do you have ESP?

I think the best way to check if it can be done is to see if you have the wires already in the steering column as the non-sports rarely came with Cruise.

Renault introduced cruise control around 2002/2003 so you may be able to fit it.

The part you will need are:

All of the wires if they aren't there.
The switch.
Clutch position sensor.
Kick down throttle.
Steering wheel buttons.

It might be worth getting a 182 steering wheel with cruise control on it already to save yourself the effort of cutting the airbag bit.

Thanks.

Im still worndering about the wires next to the beam adjuster. I tried again, and it seems that when they are connected everything is normal, but when i disconnect the centre console lights turn off (except radio, hazards) & the dash dims. Any ideas?
