rev counter problems need help asap!! =[

hi all got a problem with my ph2 172 as most of you know its running itb's dont no if this will affect my problem...
my rev counter basically does what it wants when im driving it shoots up and down but dosnt affect the revs of the engine at all, could this be a sensor problem? if so where does the rev counter pick up from? any ideas?

I too am having a similar problem but mine happens only after 6000 rpm and then drops.

Lol mine is the other way round, nothing until 6000. I'm using a random renault tdc sensor though
