Right Stalk, what is it?

  Add me 2 ur PS3 - Lylak
Alright fellas, sorry for the duff title, I didn't know what to put!

On my mk2 ph2 172 the right stalk controls the wiper blades.

Basically shifting it up to the top turns auto wipers off,
One down sets them to auto on,
2nd down sets them to continuous slow wipe,
3rd down sets them to continuous fast wipe.

If I rotate the end of the stalk forwards it turns the rear wiper on, if I hold it further back it sprays washer fluid on the back window.

Now, what is the next rotating part for? It has like a guage from small blocks at the top to larger blocks on the bottom.

What does it do? And where do you have yours set at?

Cheers,

On cup it adjusts the speed of the intermittant wipe, guessing fullfats dont have this?

I wish the fullfats had the option to control the intermittant speed. I HATE the auto wipers and their crappy sensitivity control... that hardly ever works properly.

Can you not turn the wipers off auto? I'm sure ive read it on here before? Ignition on, wiper up, down, blah, blah etc

i always thought that was the speed of the intermittent nothing to do with sensitivity!??! thats what it is in most cars when you see it.

I am I only person who likes the auto wipers? Mine work brilliantly, as did they on my old 1.6. The sensitivity is more for the size of the droplets than the quantity of rain i've found.

Yeah I'd agree, it's the size of the droplets rather than the amount of rain on the screen.

I've had it before where the whole screen was splashed by a lorry in fine spray but the auto wipers didn't detect it.

Mine never seem to work properly!
Was in a complete rain storm earlier, the things never came on, i could literally not see a thing out there. i had to put them on to the medium wipe.

Turn on they work, turn off they stop, intermittant they annoy! (to slow or to fast) Mk2 Ph1 no auto.

WELL DONE Lead Head I'm up for renewal but waiting for Revels to get sticker set sorted (Ooops did I say that out loud!)

Bang on there Ben! I love mine and whilst they're lazy (;)) I wouldn't be without them. As you state, the sensitivity settings take some getting used to but once you've worked it out you're sorted.

Also people forget that the auto wipers are auto-off when you first start the car. The auto function has to be turned off then back on again everytime the ignition is restarted. It isn't neccessarily the wipers that aren't wiping, just that the function may still be switched off. :)

all you lot with your fancy cars, get your self a authentique, you can turn them on or off simple, and it works, rain sensitive wipers :dapprove: next you will want tyre pressure guages and cars that park themselves :D
