'Ring and Spa Euro-Trip (10th-12th May) 2008
Last weekend (10th-12th May 2008) Rebel did a Euro-trip to take in the delights of the 'Ring and Spa GP circuit. A big thanks goes out to one of our members, Craig, for sorting/organising this trip and for getting a great bunch of guys together (including a support van for carrying tyres, brakes, drive shafts, etc.)
Here are a selection of photos, Andy took (I was the driver and sorry we took the CTR on this occasion)
Saturday 10th May
Arriving in France and awaiting the rest of our convoy (George booked the wrong time and was an hour behind on Le Shuttle). Whilst we were waiting a rather loud and bright Lambo-something-or-other arrived...
On the way to the 'Ring...
As we arrived at the 'Ring a little early there was a race event on so we parked up across the way - next to this weird-looking white thing.
After eventually pulling myself away from the white thing I took a few shots of the 'action' on track. Bloody hell those Porsche's were giving it the beans down the home straight.
It's just a shame that fencing has been put up all around the 'Ring and taking photos is now a little trickier.
Still, there are plenty of spots for grabbing shots through gates and holes in the fence. The next car below looked like it was actually made up of parts of a fence / scaffolding...
The white thing again. Sounded alright as it pootled by actually...
Our very own Chris (and Gav) giving it some beans in the DC5...

Sunday 11th May
On the Sunday we travelled from our hotel in Koblenz to the 'Ring for more fun (which didn't really happen as it was ridiculously busy). We enjoyed a scenic drive to the 'Ring taking in some lovely back roads before parking up .
Back at the 'Ring we parked up. Never seen it so busy. Pants.
An empty toll ro-, er, track whilst we wait for yet another accident to be cleared up...
Eventually we got bored of waiting (and it was too busy to get out and circle the 'Ring - ooer) so we decided to visit the castle on the hill instead.
After an hour or so looking around the castle (and a soft-drink or three in the presence of some supercars) we headed back to the 'Ring one last time to see if there was an opportunity to grab a quick lap or two. There wasn't. *sigh*
Monday 12th May
Whilst the rest of the Rebel convoy made their way to the trackday at Spa, Andy and I devised a quick route round some twisties and decided to give the 'Ring one more go.
Whilst walking around Grunne Holle we was lucky enough to see Sabine! Woohoo! She was just jumping into a Taxi. (we saw her in the taxi a couple of times that day as it turns out).
We eventually joined the rest of the guys at Spa later but didn't get many photos. We were too busy going round the track and wondering how on earth F1 cars take those corners so fast (and just how impressively impressive Spa GP Circuit actually is!) Wowsers. 8) Here's a hurried picture Andy took before being forced into a JDM Impreza Type-R / 'Teg DC-5 and launched around the track.
Many more images can be seen in the Rebel Motorsport Club Gallery here.
Roll on the next meet Click here for details.
Cheers,
Andy & Lyn
