Ive stopped claiming under warranty Steve. 52,000 miles now on here! lol. Its a wear and tear thing! :)

  E90

washer bottle is officially fooked, pissed its contents out onto the ring car park following my wee through corner diversion, and everytime I fill it now, its straight out the bottom, LOL Not the rad though, so it could have been worse. Tracking is out, and it vibrates like a mo fo at 50-60 mph, but its been funny for ages, so not sure if thats my fault, lol

  Clio 197

12 Laps and:

Engine Mount now clunks on overrun in all gears!
The rubbers visibly worn out.

Brake fluid disappeared into thin air: Whole system to be bled, and better fluid to go in there.

Lost 4mm tread on the fronts

Horrible rattle from behind the instrument panel.

Ditto Oms - hardly any fluid left and looks like brake pads are gone on mine too!

Also need clutch adjusting (hopefully not replacing!) and probably 4 new tyres :(

Mechanically, mines sweet as a nut - brakes fine, tyres fine, suspension fine, engine fine, it wanted more punishment. Electrically, its knackered - anti-perc pump hasnt been working for a while which ended up with the coolant boiling over after my unscheduled stop at the side of the F1 circuit. The oil pressure gauge was stuck at the top due to a wire that had come loose, presumably through vibration. The ignition, fuel pump and chargecooler pump all failed at the same time due to one poxy wire running through the dash with a short in it somewhere...as it was the auxiliary feed to the relay box, when it shorted out, the whole car ground to a halt! BB are still trying to track it down right now.

So effectively, my Ring trip was wrecked by one wire shorting out which couldnt be got at without getting inside the dash. Cheers Renault!

BTW My advice to anyone with brake problems - and it sounds like theres a lot of you LOL - forget all these ideas of this compound or that compound, fancy patterned discs etc - just get BIG calipers, BIG discs, braided hoses and fresh 5.1 fluid and you will solve all your problems. I did not have a single problem with my brakes the whole time over there and - with my Clio getting up to 120 over the crest at Flugplatz and the rest of the time hard stops from up to 100 to take the corners - that tells its own story. Big brakes rock.

Well our cup did 60 laps last year (over 2 weekends 2 weeks apart) and all we got was a new set of front tyres and some brakes pads. The car is absolutely bog standard.

What were some of you doing?????

I dont think there is anything wrong with the standard brakes - its just your application of them.

But you dont have to brake for corners if youre only doing 40 down the straights though huh :p

A trackday second car is the way forward! Next year I might come along but borrow my mates Caterham. Cant afford to replace bits on the Cup.

Dave, I only ran 5 laps after a wheel bearing started causing me some probs but running brembo disks and PF 97 pads.

No brake problems at all here. In fact. I wanted to get back out there for more laps had the bearing not started to cause grief. :(

Ill be getting some of those pads when I use up the 2 sets of oem ones I have now.

I have them on the 944 and they are nothing short of breathtaking.
