Am I right in thinking with one of these fitted Big Brother has more control in how it views your driving? My mate claims they can track your speed etc?

suppose techinically possible but doubt the RA2 logs all your speeds en route then uploads back to blackspot when you update it.
Yeah I have always been curious about that. when you update, it uploads all your previous info, so they problably know what speeds you have been doing. if the police were privvy to that info, they could prosecute you by your own admission!!
anyway, with reference to RA1/RA2, I think the RA1 is a wiser buy, coz the powers that be are trying to outlaw devices with laser detection. The RA2 has laser alert integrated into the unit, which would make it illegal, but the RA1 laser alert is a plug-in which can simply be removed, making it just a GPS device.

Nar, doubt it. Look what I do for a living, on my profile.
Also with the RA2 blackspot point out that you would still be able to make it legal by turning off laser recpetion in the menu.
All a long way of yet imo.
On a similar point ive loaded on a few of my own "blackspots", wonder if they have decided to use them, do they load them all on to everybody elses or check them first? suppose could test it by deleting it then updating it.
