Road Angel Question

Does anybody know if there is a test that can be done on a Lazer Detctor to prove that it is working?

I have spoken to blackspot the people that run the road angel service and they say that if I send the sensor to them, they will test it. But I have driven past a speed van and also driven past a copper holding a radar gun, and it hasnt picked them up! I know that as long as you are not speeding(which I wasnt), the lazer will not target you and therefor your road angel will not activate, but just to be on the safe side, would prefer if I could test it to see if it works.....

Any help peeps?

I shared your concerns until one day it just went mental on M4 up to wales luckily I was only doing about 76 so no probs there!

You could try a laser pen as sold in gadget shop and similer places?

I too have been in touch with Blackspot about this, they are based in Silverstone about 15 minutes away for me so they have told me to take mine up for a test. Ill let you know. One thing they did say was that the laser guns give very little scatter so unless you have been targeted you wont pick it up, also once you have been targeted by one of the guns/safety camera vans its curtains as they will already have clocked your speed!! Did you know that you can hook the road angel upto an iPAQ for SatNav, works a treat!

Interesting stuff guys... Was thinking of getting one... Wondering if it will be affected by heat reflective windscreen?

probably will, but there is a square at the bottom on the screen, little bigger than the 172 one. works fine through that.

I have never had the mobile alert go off but then again dont think I have been targeted by a van etc...

Was wondering what that was for.... but arent the wiper blades sorta in the way a bit? Plus.... what about behind me (thats how I was clocked at 104.2 the first and last time)...

well my detector is there and picks up signals from same distance as before in my dynamique with normal screen.

I understood the UV coating stopped signals getting through, yes it is low down but looks neater down there and it still sees through the rear window I think.

as I have asked before though laser is the one to watch out for and I presume the one you got doen with from behind, and has anyone been saved with any device from laser?

Ive just been told that laser goes through anti UV screens anyway its just radar that doesnt and the road angel mobile bit only looks out for laser, so you might be ok anywhere on the screen if you are only looking for laser?
