Ha how can you bring yourself to pay that!? I cannot bring myself to pay £66 lol what does VED or whatever actually pay for?
and extra £200 odd a year extra is hardly breaking the bank is it!
Yup. Pre-2001 Clios are slightly cheaper iirc than Ph2 and the Mk3s.£220?
On tbe SF??
Tbh, I don't think £400+ is expensive. Period.
Especially considering the insurance is WAY more than that, if it's on a car with the highest 'tax' bracket.
That can't be for a Ph1 172?
Tbf i'd never really looked into it was just abit shocked for some reason i thought they would be similar to the 1*2's

I looked up the tax on a Subaru WRX the other day, it's the same as my 172,
just as well as that's my next car.
MPG on the other hand. :S

It makes me LOL when people consider not getting a car because of the tax bracket.
this!!!! my mate just bought a mini one because his parents "wouldnt let him" get a cooper S because the boggo one was tax excempt.
I must admit I didn't think they were in the highest bracket either. It's only an S2000! Bit weird to think it's the same as the pointless chelsea tractors on the roads these days.
Not all S2000s are £460. IIRC that is for post 2006 cars, and some of the earlier cars are £270. The biggest problem with an S2000 is the insurance; I can insure one for £1100 but I can insure a Z4 3.0l for £650. I once read it was because the seats are desirable and easy to steal but that doesn't make up £450 surely.
Is there not another bracket though? My other car is £475 per year.
I insured my S2000 through specialist brokers and got it for £650 (age 26, 4 years NCB).
The insurance group is way off the mark at group 20 because the very first models released in 1999 were not fitted with an Alarm. They also have no traction control systems what-so-ever. In later cars T/C became an option, but never standard I don't think. In year 2000 onwards Honda UK retro fitted Cat 1 Alarm Immobiliser systems but insurance groupings and insurance companies didn't really catch up with it.
S2000's are not hard to insure though, you just need to go through a specialist broker that does recognise the alarm and appreciates you are a car enthusiast and are less likely to crash than Dolly is in her Daihatsu Charade
I never read anything regarding stealing the seats though! Probably lack of T/C more than anything
Re: tax, 2006 is the golden year for lots of sports cars jumping from the £250 mark to the £450 mark due to emmissions. RX8's are another example of that...
