Road Trip!

  RB 182
Me and the g/f wanted to go on holiday in Sept, but for past few yrs ive done two lads holidays a yr and ive already been to Magaluf this yr. Now if im going with a girl i really didnt wanna do the party holiday, so really randomly we both said we'd like to do a kind of road trip. This developed, and now the Clios doing a mother of a road trip!

From home we're going down to Folkstone and across to France on the Eurostar. Then we're doing Paris (leaving the car on the outskirts lol) and then down to Milan, obviously stopping on the way. From Milan we go to Monaco because i want to see the Gran Prix streets lol, and then onto Barcelona! Then on the way home, via a few other places we're going to the Nurburgring (im not going on it) and then catching the ferry back to Hull! So far we've booked the Eurostar, so im at least going to France! This is just a quick idea, and we've alot of planning to do - September 13th we go!

Has anyone taken their car abroad? Ive only ever driven a Focus hire car in Spain!

I've just done a similar trip that took in The Ring, take a look in road driving stories for my 10 countries, 5 days, 1 nurburgring trip :)

All I'll add here, is that Monaco was a disappointment :( The bits you see on TV were so busy it was hard to tell what was what and away from the harbour/posh shops streets it was really a bit of a dive :( But, if like me, you just wanna go cos you're an F1 fan and wanna say you've been then it's totally worth it hehe! Watch out for the price of a beer... 6 euros was as cheap as it got. For a fairly small, not a pint, random lager heh. It was a shocker to drive round too, SO narrow and SO busy it was insane. Cars were parked touching each other...!

Don't worry about driving in Paris, it's not as mental as people say. I took the car a few years ago and we went to the Paris Motor Show. All you need is GPS.

<-- Nurburgring FTW

Remember mate, alot of countries and i think france included you will have to carry a first aid kit and triangle and high-viz jacket. I think its illegal not to. Along with all your insurance documents aswell buddy

I'm planning a similar trip in August. I'm going to be catching the ferry from Rosyth to zeebrugge, and then heading to Swtzerland via the Nurguring. I'm going to be borrowing my sisters mini, as I've just sold my williams, so instead of taking it on the track we've bought a ticket for the BMW motorsport ring taxi.

I'm thinking about going to Italy, from Switzerland, then going back through France on the way home, and then getting the eurostar back to blighty.
