Road tyres that will last a track day or two?

  Ph2 Clio 172
Hi

Having been convinced to keep my 172 and track it for some fun every now and again I need to get the tyres replaced. PE2's are apparently good, but for 16" wheels are just to expensive. Toyo T1R's seem to get a lot of love on here, but I've seen people say they suffer a lot on a track, which negates the cost saving if they wear out quicker. What have people used for mainly road use but with an occasional track day?

Cheers

Hankook Rs2's or Federal RSR's.
Both are road legal so stick on car drive to circuit & back again.
Leave mine on from March till it gets too cold.
Done a good few road miles & will be 4 trackdays since April still wearing even & plenty of tread to go.
My avatar is my tyres.

PE2's last forever. I managed a UK trackday, weekend at the nurburgring and 16k driving miles on a set!
Even after that they had tread left on them, but the sidewalls started to crack due to age! lol

£400+ a set is just painfull though!

Especially when pushing on & you wear out the mich mans head on side of tyre, side walls are too soft.
Very good road tyre/wet track tyre but gets destroyed by RS2's on road & track

But pe2's were specifically designed for the 182, right?

Seen as I only have the money for a single set, and if I get more serious about track days ill buy a second set of wheels, I think ill get a set of Toyos and go from there.

I'm going for RS2's for mine, come tyre change, they seem to be very very priced for one hell of a package.

Another vote for Hankook R-s2's , fitted a set last week and in the small amount of miles ive done so far seem to have noticeably more grip and braking ability (when dry) than the goodyear eagle f1 gsd3's i had fitted before... wet grip is a little suspect with 3rd gear wheel spin if pushing it but they probably still need running in...
