Roll Cage Padding

Roll Cage Padding...Talk to me!

What padding do you use on your cages?

Any of this stuff ok? http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_...w=roll+cage+padding&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Do you just put it on the parts your head could hit or on the parts all your body could hit?

Any tips about securing it on like tip ties or doubble sided tap or velcro?

It would be lovly if you could post some pics of the parts you have put the padding on.

Thanks

Chris

What kind of cage do you have / getting mate? i.e is it a full cage, dash dodger, door bars? etc

From the ones I've seen its pretty much the parts where you are likely to hit with your body so the bits in the back should be fine, and unless its in competitions the foam doesnt really need to be FIA spec.

As long as its soft lol

Its an OMP full weld in 9 or 11 point cage.

It follows the A-piller and goes through the dash and has door bars. Its a gooden ;)

Right so you think the FIA stuff isnt really needed :)

you say that but the FIA fireproof stuff is rock hard.

Send Tony a pm asking where he got ours. its cable tied on. you need the proper stuff as its offset & fits nice

we dont need to run fia spec for racing so pointless on a road car

Yeah the FIA padding our our Mini Challenge race car is rock hard.

I will send Tony a PM now to see where you got yours from.

Also the FIA padding is really really expensive :S

Stuff we bought was from one of the grass track racing stands at the Autosport show. Not much help to you atm, but look around those stands if you go next time they are good and cheap.

Will do nothing in the event of a heavy crash. Despite the proper padding being rock hard, they are designed to absorb heavy impact.

anyone who uses pipe lagging on a cage shouldnt be allowed in the car........

it was a joke response

"Easy fit roll bar padding, with a 1 5/8"ID offset hole and 1" thick high density padding giving you high levels of protection. Flame retardant. Not FIA approved."
