Rough idle and cutting out

Just recently the idle on my ph1 172 seems to be quite rough. I've ran it on vpower since I bought it which I've found makes the f4r run a little smoother when I had my previous Trophy & ph1 172 but it's not helped with this one. It's had all the belts & dephaser done at a specialist so that side of things are fine. Spark plugs were also changed at the same time and I've just recently changed the lambda sensor.

Also it seems to intermittently cut out when I'm for example manoeuvring into a parking space. It's like the car chokes when I the wheel when it's idling then it cuts out.

Anyone shed light on these problems?

Let me know if you find out what's wrong as sounds like the same problem I've got going on right now

Same problem here. I originally though it was something to do with the power steering switch, but it'll still cut out if the wheel is only half turned.

Is yours an intermittent problem, or everytime you start the car?

Yeah for example when going into a parking space when I turn the wheel it seems to bog down and cut out.

Also I've noticed recently when I'm sitting at 30 or 40 in 4th gear the engine seems quite farty.

same problem here, flashes EML light but my code reader see's it as a "n/a DTC"
reset it and its fine for a while then lights back on and it idles rough, sometimes cuts out when coming to a stop. also seems to take longer to start, normally its first flick of the key but can sometimes be a few goes.
i have currently bypassed the carbon cannistor tho (thanks to my ex's dog chewing the pipes lol) but its still plugged in

I reckon it could be 2 seperate issues. The cutting out could be the loom earth being loose on the steering rack mount earth point and the rough running (since everything else has been done) could be the injectors not being in top notch shape.

What about the Leads or Coil if you have changed the plugs this could be an issue.

Leads and coil are fine, Marc.

Never thought of the injectors being at fault. I'll have a look at the earth on the rack too.

If spark plugs, leads, coil and lambda are all checked and fine i would go with CTS or injector.

Marc what is CTS ? I'm having the same problems as above had new coil pack plugs leads injector batterie manifold has been cleaned and still cutting out sometimes when coming to junction or parking etc

Having the same problem with phase 1 172. Its been fine for a few month then started again last few days. I did have a problem with crankshaft sensor which i replaced which seemed to help for a while. Also changed air intake temp sensor that again made it run smoother but back to how it was. Any chance it could be map sensor?
