RS tuner chat.

Im very tempted to buy an RS tuner, me and a friend were going to go halfs on one but i have a couple of questions.


Main question is, i have a 2011 macbook, will the RStuner software work on it? most threads i find point to PC software.

My second question is, if i buy a second hand one, will it need unlocking to be used on another car? If so, how hard is this and what is the cost?

Are the maps stored on it or do i download them, and where do i down load them from if thats the case.


Im not a total technophobe, but can find unfamiliar IT based stuff a little baffling.

This thread gives a bit of guidance on what to do if you're buying a 2nd hand RS tuner:

You will need to get an unlock code (£90 IIRC) if you intend to buy a 2nd hand one, and maps are separate and available for download on the fast chip website (29 euros for the 98RON I think).

I'm no car ecu management specialist either, but all the information I mentioned above was found on here and through websites I found through google.

when you use the sw it stores your vin and needs unlocking before you can use on a different car. you used to be able to use any old map you borrowed stole from your mate but henk has changed the software so you have to buy a map linked to your vin now also which bumps the price slightly as using someone elses map makes your car not start ! (easily rectified when you flash your backup you obviously made before starting.....)
