RS Tuner - Just mapped



  Clio 172 Cup
Just mapped my 172 Cup using RS Tuner and 7300_5B10_WEB_RON98_july09 .cal file.

All went perfect on install etc etc

The car feels very different now, alot smoother not 5k Kick in the ass.

But how has the mapped changed the 5k kick?

I don't know if the car feels faster/slower. Alot smoother tho!

Definetly pulls harder in 5th from 80.

Rev needle now also flies around to 7800rpm :evil:, change @ 7k.

Also notice my exhuast note has change, not as grumbly hot and cold.

Car has ktec stealth, ITG Filter and Matched inlets.

Whats other peoples thoughts on the remap?

Aparently Mark you loose most of the 5k kick as the power is delivered lower down the revs, getting rid of the lumpy idle does it for me lol

Smooths the delivery, so the kick is less noticeable. It's the low down improvment that I like, small but def useful.

Am chuffed with the extra torque it's given me, gave it the beans with me and bro in the car both about 14 stone and it was at 100 in a flash.

Said it was pulling better then his meg 225.

It changes: idle (a bit higher), closed loop settings (improved cold starts), increased revlimiter and ignition. So I guess the smothing of the 5000rpm kick is mainly because ignition changes. No changes in fuel from what I understand.

I was 100% clear on fault codes.

It totally changes the car, for the better.

Best £44.50 I have spent!! lol

When do you change with new 7800rpm limiter?

Mine has had various RStuner maps on it over the last 2 years and none of them have ever removed the lumpy idle so im not sure how yours has! Glad your happy with it though :)

Heck said the 5B10 file was best for my 172 cup, give it a try.

It was like sitting in a V8 monster truck on cold idle before the map.

It's not perfect now but a hell of alot better!!

nice. mine doesnt idle badly at all. not in terms of as bad as ive read on here (you havent had a map done before on mine had you warren?)
it would be nice to smooth out the curve mind tho

Agreed mate, the whole point of having less power low end and more high end is so that when you're in the mood for it you know it's there on tap, when you're nt in the mood you go no where near the 5k and there's no reason to need the power.

Nt had the map myself bt i'm reading it that having more power low end results in less top end? Which seems silly even if it is smoother but who wants smooth over performance when they drive a hot hatch.

If you get mre power low end but none is lost at top end then scratch what I said lol.

Not at all lol. There's more across the rev range, just a bigger increase low down.

Ah ok lol, I thought it was just the same power but spread out more evenly.

I love the idle by the way, sounds angry!

Henk fills in the holes in the factory mapping which are there from both the inlet design and also emissions.

If you have used the RS tuner dynbo before and after it is REALLY obvious what is going on. Sorry no logs on the is computer.

Can't wait to get mine, 3rd gear pull is the main reason why i'm doing it, that winds me right up. Just need to get my brakes sorted and a service then i'm there

Put it this way, slip road from work headin onto a19 by the time I hit the a19 I was at 110beans per minute!! The Torque difference is immense!!

80mph in 4th to 110bpm I had to collect me ass from the rear bench lol

Makes the car way more drive-able, slow and fast. I seem to get alot more torque steer now tho.

my MPG has hit a record low of 16.3 lol Driving like a Hero on the way home.

Got a massive pile of service parts sitting beside me just beggin to be fitted, Brakes, braided lines, pads, oils, brake fluid.

Powerflex bushes and dog mount.

Like a new car in the making!!
 
Just been reading all this - quite keen to grab and RS Tuner

Is it fairly easy to work out which map you need to put on etc...
And I take it you need a windows laptop?

My macbook pro would be of no use lol

I am going to order one on payday from fastchip, could anyone tell me what the best one to order is as i see there are options to get standard, pro, premium and premium+?

It also asks about accessories like warning light, forgive me if this sounds stupid its just i am not sure what i would have to order.

Upper rpm's the mixture is set richer for obvious reasons! :approve:

It would be self explanatory if i knew what half the s**t meant.

I just want to get the best value for money i can, i am really looking for the smoother power delivery and ride that everyone talks about and a better performance.

Honestly i am not really all that mechanically minded and i am just trying to learn as i go so bear with me buddy lol

I dont think i'd understand stuff if it became too technical, thats why i am on here.;)

It's just one remap for the Clio... IF you want something specific visit Henk in Holland.

The chart ain't that difficult to read / understand.

Like i said, IF you want see want your engine is doing a la F1 get the premiums... in-flight data logging.

How hard can it be?
