I'm going Matched Inlets as it seems a better deal... May get the RSTuner Cheaper once/if the Pound to Euro Exchage rate gets better

interesting, i hav a 03 172 on 41000 miles and am not sure if the cambelt has been done! got service history for 4 years it was fully serviced at renault, would ren of changed it in 4 years of serviceing, if not, will there be a date on my belt? coz if its still orginial looks like il be having niether!

kk il go for the matched inlets but there is still the issue above regarding my cambelt?

any help people?

WHO ASKED YOU BEN!!! only jokin,
well first i need find out if the belts have been done, coz if they have been within 5 years then they ok i sopose, but can i tell by looking at the belt? I.E a date prehaps?

i'd go for the rs tuner first.
you will see decent gains with just that, where as with the inlets you will not get the best out of them until you have a map done.

if you get inlets later on, it won't cost much to have a new map from henk

Only way of checking would be in the service history. Would someone be able to check on the renault system using the vin/reg number.

going study the service history when i get home, but you know how they work, they jus wack a big oilley stamp on a book saying they serviced it. i kno henk can do a personal map but every engine is different, i could take a dremmal to my airbox and make it respond differently and without a RR there is know way of a accurate map, however i like the idea of doing my own data logging and fault clearing, so i will get one with a personal remap but evenually when i get the cams in and the zorst setup then it will be RR time and a propa remap so ye, logic dictates, inlets first, but most important is cambelt atm!

It might depend on whether you have an RS stamped inlet - if you have, you won't get so much of a gain from matched inlets, though still some.

I had a really good chat with Craig from APD about that as I thought the same - bulls**t according to those who match them! lol

The RS inlet has slightly larger ports than the others but the casting is still as poor.

Interesting stuff - although playing Devil's advocate, he would say that wouldn't he, being in the inlet-matching business!

Not doubting what he says though :)

Get the belts checked first then if you can still join the group buy get the inlets but if not get the rstuner.

had this debate with myself also, matched inlets for me then rst in a few months after my 182 manifold is on

  Iceberg 172
I'd decided to go for RST but since the discount didn't amount to much, I'm contemplating inlets....... but then the wife has just booked for us to go to Paris for a few days so it might be neither for this month! lol :S

oh, and my heater's just packed up.... :(

is it a mission getting th cam belt cover off? work on a fair few engines but look at this one with the space for working and two words spring into mind, "f**k that"

soo if i aint got much life in my belt im going take it that place in cheshire which is cheep as fook. and then be waiting anouther month for one of these products :(

  PH1 172 Sport
You will need the special tools and so will they so if they dont have them they may be cheap as fook when they do it but a month later your be having a new engine!

yes mate birchdown is who i was onabout, seen there prices for cambelt change! i wouldnt take it to some backstreet delboy joint, in regards to the matched inlets im going down the isle of wight to see my bros and gonna have him take a look at it as he builds race engines and is mentally obsessed with engeneering! i kno before anyone says that the people running the group buy are pros with the clios but if my bro isnt %100 confident with the inlets then il leave it.

kool. well jus spoke to my bro on the phone and he says to get the best from matched inlets hes going take the head off and match it that way as he says " how can you match a inlet manifold when there is no head to match it too!"

They're all matched to a standard head IIRC

  PH1 172 Sport
No need to take the head off to do it IMO as you can get all the measurments you need by removing the inlet mainfold and exposing the inlet ports.

thats all very well but ther is the factor of two heads never being exactlly the same, i understand where you are coming from as i asume they make the head alot better than they did the ports on th inlet but "matched inlets" should be matched to the head they going on.

lol well regardless of everyones advise i have a option now which is even better than all, for 150 quid i get my cambelt done and aux belt, and my inlet matched!

how you ask? my bro said he will do it all for the price of the parts. lol loving it, so will be getting rs tuner, anyone kno wher get a cambelt kit cheap?
