RSi starter motor

this morning my girlfriends mk1 decided to do f**k all when she turned the key. all the dash lights come on as the should and it just wont turn the starter. any ideas? oh yeah and where is the bloody thing?

Cheers, John.

if u can hear a clicking noise when the key is turned to the cranking position could be the solenoid which is attached to the starter motor and can be replaced seperately (about twenty odd quid) the starter motor is below both the inlet and exhaust manifolds where the gearbox meets the engine and is a b**ch to get too on the rsi best bet is to look from underneath

no ticking or anything. bump started it yesterday and drove it home then switched it off and tried it and it started, went back to work, came home and tried it later and nothing again!? its not the battery is it?

check the little wire that goes to the solenoid hasnt come off or it may just need the contacts cleaning up
