rubbing an inner rear arch

  172 cup
i took my wheels off earlier to get them refurbed but notticed on the N/S rear arch the wheel had been rubbing on the inside.

i'm assuming that the bushes have gone in my beam considering that the cars done 121K?
the cars completely standard and its a 172cup. or am i looking in the wrong direction? cant really see what else it could be? the other side is fine.

any views would be much appreciated.

thanks Ro

i had the same sort of problem on mine, and it turned out one of my shockers had gone. maybe not be same problem for you if its a cup tho.

Goold luck either way

hmmm i'll have to check it. i know its had new shocks with in the last 12months so could be from previous shocks failing.

thanks for your advice

On high mileage Cups the rear does sag a bit. If driving around with full compliment of passengers it could sag some more and cause arch bubbing. A broken spring mabe your problem if lopsided as you say.

What makes it sag? Can this be fixed? I've got some sportlines to go on in the next few days so that should sort anycase of broken springs. It's not rubbing from having too many people in it, it's rubbing or was rubbing on the inside. So if you take the wheel off, right in front of you is where it's rubbing, not the sides. When I change the springs over, I'll see if I can see anything else out of place.

Thanks again

maybe you could check for the "response?" of the rear shocks/springs. How does the back of your Cup spring back up when you trie to push the backside down ? It should spring back up to the position from where it started and also stop there .

I hope that's clear , was looking for words in my foreign vocabulary

It can get VERY tricky and dangerous when having a shock gone in the rear
