Running LCD monitor not at native res.

  A4 Avant
I want to get a new monitor soon and I really fancy a 24". The thing that worries me is that not many PC's shall be able to run current games at 1920 x 1200. So if I were to run games at 1024 x 768 would it look pap?

it wouldnt look great no bit fuzzy you can get the monitor to not scale it though and just display it in a black box at the set resolution

As long as you pick a resolution with the same ratio it looks fine. I've got a 22" samsung widescreen which is 1680x1050 native, play most games at 1152x864 (or whatever it is exactly) and they look fine. If you pick 1024x768 for example it looks a bit silly.

Would be nice to play them native but i'd need some more graphical oomph.
