Running rich 182

  2005 182 cliosport
Hi all

I've had a search but couldn't find the right answer. My 182 had a flashing Eml light and ran lumpy so put it in the garage who ran a diagnostics which said misfire on cylinder three. I've replaced the coil pack and ht leads. It's running better and the light has gone but the smell coming from the exhaust is horrendous !!! Would a new set of plugs resolve this issue? I've read that it could also be the thermostat. Any help woudd be great.

Cheers mate.

Changed the thermostat last night as it needed one anyway. The flashing eml light has come back. It idles much smoother with the new leads and coil pack but something still is misfiring. Ive done the injector test and when disconnecting number three the engine barely changes at all. Going to get a new injector.

How are your exhaust tips? Proper black from over-fueling?

I've had the EML come on before - but not flash like yours. Turned to be an oxygen sensor on the blink - a code reader easily identified it as being the cause. Have you got one yourself or that you could borrow?

They are a little black I haven't been using it since its been misfiring to save any more issues. The eml was flashing so the garage did a diagnostics and said it's misfiring on 3 and that is needs a new coilpack and leads which I replaced with renault parts to make sure. The spark plugs are a little black but looks to be in ok condition. I haven't got my own reader. Lots of people have said it's the injector

they're nuggets, go back and ask them for the money for the parts they told you were faulty that weren't:wink:

nothing worse than a diagnostic machine in the hands of a clueless idiot!!!!!!

Now luckily the diagnostic was free and they apparently took it round the corner to a Renault specialist where they used the proper kit. I didn't pay for anything I said I was on the clio forum and could get the parts cheaper/change them myself :) I have a company car so this is now my tinker thing which makes having a broken car not as stressful as before ! I'm certain the injector will cure it
