Running windows programs on MBP

Is VM any good nowadays? When I used it a few years to it was chronic. Just fancy a MBP but I use a lot of windows based programs.

or is there any other alternatives?

Parallels is my VM software of choice for work. Seems to deal with retina display better than VMWare as well as networking. Works perfectly on mine giving it 4GB RAM (16GB installed). Pretty crap with games though so bootcamp for that if I ever need to.

Having tried both Parallels 9 and VMWare fusion 6 recently, I actually prefer VMWare fusion. Runs all my windows stuff perfectly on OSX.
