Yeah it is great after an hour. After two hours you start to think you're not actually as in control of this 'sprawling' world as you first thought. The kick in the stones comes when you die during a cut scene. I'm not talking about a regular old distracted 'oops' after the cut scene either - I'm talking about a cut scene that takes you away from the first person (shattering the realism) and when the scene ends you are greeted with GAME OVER. Worst Game Design Ever
Some other choice highlights are;
Mysteriously floating around during a firefight and not being able to aim for s**t - your allies are running around and literally pushing you around the scenery (my personal favourite)
The sensation of being 3ft tall and talking to peoples b****cks during interaction with NPCs.
Pressing Ctrl to crouch only to see your point of view suddnly snap down sharply, and only by about an inch.
This game was supposed to be all about realism, a huge sprawling world in which you had control of your actions and choices. What they actually created was a first person shooter that fails to even give you the impression that you're walking around on feet as opposed to knee stumps strapped to roller skates - often leaves you wondering why you died - and cheats.
There is some depth in there, and it has moments of greatness that will surely get better with continued play. Sadly, the annoying design and lack of polish prevents me from wanting to bother. After god knows how many years of development, and numerous delays, it feels like a beta. Shame really
