Saline Motors

2 weeks after getting my X reg 172, the exhaust snapped between the back box and the centre section, i called them up and the garage explained the exhaust wasnt included in the 3 month warranty that came with the car but he would fix it anyway and put it through the warranty as something that was included, ie alternator. Fair enough, dropped it off on Friday the 12th and picked it up on the following Wednesday, with a shiny new centre section. However just last night, the bloody thing fell off again on but at a different part; just the back box fell off this time. Does anyone have any info about this garage or on what to do next as the job was really done as a favour? Should i just ask for a cheque for £300 and get it done myself as their mechanics botched up the job? Any thougnts are welcome

Saline Motors are a bunch of donkeys mate. Bought an XR2 from them a few years back and had a bit of bother from them.

I would try your luck, but dont hold your breath. Then at least you cant say you didnt try.

£300? Get a full stainless for that

Mac what Saline motors are you talking about, im sure there is 2 called Saline ????? My dad knows the guy who owns Salie Motors just next to Comrie/Oakley, if the guy has been good enough to put the warrenty work through as something else to help you out im sure he will fix the new centre section they have fitted.

hey, i was just wanting some thoughts, the sales people were fine, i was just wondering where i stood with the warranty, garage, exhaust etc, but thanks for the replies.

Im getting a stainless steel back box fitted on monday fitted from saline (beside oakley) on Monday, but starting to get a rattling from the right hand side of the engine bay, Accessory belt idler pulley? any ideas on that?

Neil, it was the one in Comrie that I had the bother with. The other Saline motors is in Saline itself.

I saw a silver 172 for sale in there a few weeks back. Think it was a bit high on the miles though, about 70k if I can remember correctly. Still a fantastic car though!

well, bought the lower miler one, only had 17k on the clock, not too bad like, apart from the bloody exhaust!!!
