Sat Nav on a phone?

Righty folks I can upgrade my phone next month and I really want a phone that can run sat nav! Can any of you tech gurus help me out with this, I've been told the Nokia E61 and the Nokia 6280 will run a sat nav system but I'm not sure. So I am asking all you lovely people for help

Look for a Nokia phone running a Symbian OS (Nokia N70, N91, N80 etc) and these will be able to run TomTom (N70 definately works but the other two phones are yet to be released so they may not be compatible with the current TT version)

Pretty much most symbian based or windows mobile smartphones will run tomtom and most of the other mobile satnav programs, though imo tomtom is the only one worth bothering with.

how do i get the satnav put on it then? Lets say i bought an N70, how much would it cost me to get fully working in car satnav on it? Ie with the reciever etc etc

Get yourself a 512 memory card , about £20 ish , find a local independant mobile phone shop , theres a fair old chance that they will have a dodgy copy of tomtom sat nav and install it for about £10 - £20. Theres one local to me , with a 16 channel receiver and installed on your own card its £50 .

I've got the card so i just need a reciever, a 512mb card (got 1) and the program loading on?

how muc his the actual program legit?

Then i suppose you could buy a cradle for your car?

Thats why if you have a little backstreet mobile phone shop its better to go there and have a quiet word

You just pop the gps receiver out of sight in the glove box . Some of the newer phones like the n70 work better with a 32 channel receiver otherwise they can loose their signal , older phones like the 6680 only need a 16 channel receiver .

I might have done the above but tomtom navigatior cant find the maps on the memory stick. anyone know how to locate them.

Tom Tom is on the device but the maps are on the "\storage card\gb" dirctory. The tom tom software wont let you specify were they are. been fiddling with it for ages but cant crack it. grrrh.

edit: its on PocketPc and tom tom is v5
