Sat Nav recommendations

I've bought a Navman iCN 320..and it's s**t! Takes ages to find a satellite and I haven't even got it to work in the car AT ALL yet. I'm pissed off with it after one day so I'm sending it back. However, it did only cost £99.

What I want to know is, what do you recommend that doesn't cost much more than £200? The TomTom One looks quite good, or is there another brand that works OK and is cheapish?

Also, they ALL say that you need an extra antenna with heat-reflective windscreens, so do they work OK with 182s, cos of the little square at the bottom of the windscreen?

Any advice would be helpful.

I have the Tom Tom 510 and it does have a bit of trouble sometimes in picking up satellites though if I keep it near the square it's ok ish but I couldn't get it to work on the right hand side where I wanted it. Probably could do with an external aerial though but I can't be bothered as it's just about ok...

Looks really good, but it's £315, more than I want to spend (I wouldn't really need to use it that often).

Interesting about the windscreen, thanks, that's what I wanted to know :)

Garmin Streetpilot I3, £99 from comet if they have any left. always gets rave reviews, very small and neat yet not too small.

I bought one but havent set it up yet, need to route the external aerial neatly and havent had a chance.

Yeah a bloke I work with has got one and he's really pleased with it. It's what made me get mine, sadly I was very disppointed! It's tiny, but does the job - and is also less bulky to carry around.

I'll have a look around, see if I can find one.

Just bought a Garmin Nuvi 360....excllent little thing :D
Sticking it on my side window until my external aerial arrives....Should beable to mount the aerial just below the clear patch on the windscreen then dash mount the unit.

I should think so for over £400!!!

I'm looking to spend less than half that ;)

Has anyone used the Navman iCN 320?? I can't find the Garmin one for £99 anywhere, it seems it's not on offer anymore. Maybe mine would work with an external aerial stuck to the clear patch on the windscreen...:S

Have you tried sticking something in the reset bit? or does it work outside the car ok??

I prefer TomTom, all Sat nav has the odd issue with Signals. But 98% of the time its fine. How about the older non Widescreen tomtom sure there must be some on Fleabay?

The important question sweet cheeks is what are you out the kitchen, when did Louis slacken that chain ;) You dont need Sat Nav to hang the washing out hunny ;)

I bought this, and it is awfull, it kept loosing satelite reception every 2 mins - took it back and got a refund.

The expert in maplins told me it was because "the new clios have a thick front window"

Get a Nokia Symbian phone and get the TT Mobile package.

Hmmmm, well for some reason the Navman suddenly started working today..maybe it just needed some more juice in the battery. It worked fine in the 182 as well..

There's a 28-day return policy so I'll give it a bit longer and see how it fares.

I did think that if they were really that bad they'd never sell any of them.
