SatNav on PDA's

Anyone running this? I'm thinking of getting my XDAIIs back and buying a bluetooth GPS receiver. Looking at software from my local bittorrent outlet. :D

Anyone running a similar setup and if so do you have any feedback one way or the other?

my m8 uses a pda for sat nav, personally i think its better to have it on your 3G phone, works exactly the same, amd even cheaper

I've got an Ipaq with Tomtom Navigator 5 and it's sweet :) bluetooth receiver works really well.

Have the camera locations loaded too ;)

do not use an xda for sat nav, they constantly crash, and as a result of this you will have to keep reinstalling tomtom, like i did.

I went back to ipaq, which never let me down in the first place, I have had it around 3 months, its never crashed and its never needed reinstalling, plus its permanently installed in the car, in the visor. Never had a problem.

I had Micro$oft Streets on the PDA before, but with no receiver. If the "sync" button was pressed without a link to the receiver then it would lock up.

i tried a road angel 2, same gps as sat nav and couldnt get signal, is there any way of getting a good signal ?

Newer sat nav devices have Sirf III chipset gps receivers which perform brilliantly even in cars with heat reflective windshields. The older types as found in most gps speed cam detectors are nowhere near as good.

i run a windows mobile smartphone with co-pilot, and a 1.5yr old bluetooth gps receiver. works fine in my 172 with silly screen. Has fooked up twice, both in Frodsham at similar times of day in a year and a half's use. I use it all the time for work too.

I have Tomtom working on an iPaq, works brilliantly, plus I have a bluetooth receiver with the Sirf III chipset, and it works flawlessly from under my driver's seat!
