  Clio 172 Cup

i just wanted to let you guys know that the Renault garage BURY MOTORS are pretty bent.

i took my cup in on Tuesday for a lot of niggly things. Anyway since then the radio control on the steering wheel was being crazy, skipping tracks on a cd was hell --- the sequence went 1,2,5,8,4, and all i wanted was track 3!!! Next my interoir light went, now my radio, clock display and wing mirror adjustors aint working. Has anyone had this problem? The fuses are fine.

ANYWAY WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR AT HOME AFTER COLLECTING IT, I GOT OUT ONLY TO NOTICE A MASSIVE DINT IN THE REAR PANEL JUST UNDER THE WINDOW!!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. HOW CAN THEY BE SO DISHONEST? I AM FUMING THAT THEY DIDNT HAVE THE DECENCY TO TELL ME THEY HAVE DAMAGED IT. THE STANGE THING IS THERE IS NO SCRATCH. IM WONDERING IF THEY HAVE PATCHED IT UP AND JUST LEFT IT. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD PROBLEMS OF RENAULT DAMAGING THEIR CARS? WHAT ACTION CAN YOU TAKE? IM SCARED THAT THEY WONT REPAIR IT FOR FREE AS I DROVE OFF THEIR PROPERTY AND DIDNT NOTICE IT. WE WENT BACK TODAY, AND HAD A WORD BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER HE WASNT THERE. USUALLY A GUY COMES OUT TO SHOW YOU WHAT WORK THEY HAVE DONE, BUT FUNNILY ENOUGH THEY DIDNT THIS TIME. NOW WHY WAS THAT?HMMMMM I WONDER. IF THEY DONT ADMIT IT WAS THEM WHAT CAN I DO?? ONE OF THE RENAULT EMPLOYEES EVEN RANG MY DAD AND ASKED WHAT I HAD DONE TO MY CAR. MY DAD BEING THICK SAID WELL HE BUMPED IT IN THE SUMMER BUT IT WAS FULLY REPAIRED, THE MAN SIMPLY GROANED AND QUICKLY CHANGED THE CONVERSATION. I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS AND IF ANY OF YOU GUYS CAN HELP ID REALLY APPRECIATE IT. IM NOT LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH THAT. I CANT, ITS JUST NOT RIGHT.

its not right is it. Got a quote for a repair too off a guy i know, he says £300. thats how bad the dint is. and his prices are cheap too. if renault did it id say they would charge £500. or just say oh yeah you need a whole new rear panel--- £1000 please including labour

do you know they charge £10 labour to replace an interior light bulb hahahahah OMG

So have they damaged a panel that you have already had repaired???

Even so, thats really bad. I looked at Bury motors when looking for my 172, but they were massivley over priced.

  Clio 172 Cup

yeah i smashed it quite bad in the summer (same panel, but in a differnet place). the guy i know repaired it in a day and i give him the upmost credit cos he did a great job for £350. renault quoted £1110.

Suppose the only thing you can do is take it as high as you can.

Havent had any electrical faults with mine, One of the few things I havent had to endure!!!

ask reno for their CCTV and see if u can prove that when u drove it off the forecourt the dent was there?

Did the valet it after the warrany work? Check that as well.

REMEMBER - whenever your car goes to Reno, take pictures of your car, wheels etc with a newspaper from that day. Ive always done that just in case anything like this happens.

they sometimes clean it out of courtesy.

if Reno dont have the CCTV check the surrounding cameras...youll have to be quick tho.

arghhhhhhh im fuming! and the woman today was so cheeky. i said well before and after you do any work one of your employees usually takes you round the car to identify any bumps when it came out and when it goes out, so why didnt anyone take me to my car when i picked it up. She gave a rather nasty reply - no, no she said. We dont have time for that, we get 40 cars a day here and laughed. My girlfriend (who also loves the car - hmmm wonder why) got really mad i thought she was gonna spark her out hahah - cos she is a bit crazy like that!!! but i thought how rude, and im not the kinda guy to make a fuss really, but i thought why should i take her sh*t, so on monday im gonna make a big fuss if they treat me like sh*t again.

paddymph -even if i get some CCtv, they might just say well the bump was already there when it came in. and they probably wont have the tapes from this tuesday when i drove it in

hmm.

you could well be fecked.

Its going to be down to who make the biggest complaint in all honesty then. If u can put up a better arguement than them u may be ok. Dont come over as a jumped up little git if u know what i mean tho? TRy to remain a pro!

The same thing happened to my old 172. GLENVARIGILL, DUNFERMLINE scratched my car and didnt own up, in the end I had to compromise and got half of the money it would cost to repair it, off my next service- b******s!!!!

I got my alloys kerbs on a service, 1 week after i got em, gargae completely denied it, but they forgot to charge me for the service so i was happy.

This happened to my mrs when her MGTF went in for its first service, it looked like someone had pushed a metal roller cab into the rear 1/4 panel with a dent and chip about the size of a 10p!!

I noticed it when i got home from work and she phoned them immediately and they were soooo apologetic and told her to take it in next day and leave it with them for a week and they gave her a courtesy car free as a good will gesture!! It came back absolutely mint, looks like a new panel has been fitted but they only repaired it!!

All free too!!

Either they new it happened and tried to get away with or they have very very good customer relations!! Either way it sounds like Renault could learn a thing or two from MG!!

This is one of the reasons im thinking bout a ZR 160 over the 172/CUP!!

Sorry this probably wont help you at all, and i hope you get it sorted asap!!

At the end of the day the ball isin your court cause you are there customer and theyknow how much money they can get out of you in the future via services etc and it is in there best interests to keep you happy!! Also the customer is always right!!

Good luck

ok so now im worried! got my car booked in to get the boot resprayed as theres a inperfection on the paint (2 months old)........ so what do i need to do to be safe? take pics of wheels body and all that?

Play f**king hell with them. Get out the highest possible manager in the building out - there is always one because they have to approve most new car sales. If they have damaged your electrics, then that would obviously point to carelessness. You need to be firm with them and if they ask you to pay then threaten watchdog, trading standards, court action. A mate of mine took his clio in and they broke off a piece of plastic off the trim near the passenger door - didnt own up, just glued the b*****d back on...so he got the management out and got it replaced stright away.

rang today ----- apparently its been noted on one of the job sheets. So they said we will have to do it for free. They said they get a lot of vans going in and out, and it may of been one of them (yeah right!). Its goin in Thurs :)

Jobs a good un!

Thats really bad!

my electric switch for wing mirror adjusters is a bit naffed up now. i had my car in for warranty and they played with the stereo, lucky i took the fuses out of the amps, but they still managed to blow my front speakers! they wouldnt repair it.

A lesson to all of us:

WALK ALL ROUND YOUR CAR BEFORE YOU DRIVE HOME IN IT SO THAT IF THERE ARE PROBLEMS, THEY WILL KNOW THAT THEY OCCURRED ON THEIR PREMISES. It is only your word against theirs once the car has left the dealer!

:(

Can you not get them to accompany you to your car and walk round it before you leave it in their care...asking them to point out ALL damage that pre-exists? Then anything thats apparent when you collect it, that had not been picked up when you dropped it off must have been their fault.

Kind of like what you have to do when you hire a vehicle?

Thats what I was planning for my first service (or should "service" read as "warranty work"?) ;)

ive got my car booked in for next wed and thurs to have the boot lid resprayed :-S! now scared! what i think im gonna do is when i drop it off will say "dont wanna be petty but i know i have no curbing marks & the millege so plz be careful" lol

thing is its not being done by a renault body shop so who would i take it up with if it was damaged in anyway?

hopefully i shouldnt have any problems at all as the toyota and VW garage use them as their body shop also! *everything crossed*

Mines going in on Weds next week.

I will get the service manager to walk around the car with me, and sign to say its undamaged and record the mileage.

Just like they will do with the courtesy car theyre providing me with!!
