Scanning for open networks with a router?

Obviously, it's easy to scan for open (or otherwise) wireless networks with a laptop. Is it possible with a desktop computer connected to a wireless router though? Damned if I can work out how you could do it!? Anyone help me?

Depends on the router.

u would need to put a wireless card or usb thing on your main pc, the wireless router wont' be able to tell you what other networks their are.
